View Dates & BookBuilt in 1923 by the LNER, 'Flying Scotsman' has had a lengthy and varied history; from performing the first non-stop run between London and Edinburgh in 1928 to breaking the record in 1934. Even after retirement in 1963, the story continued with the locomotive being overhauled in time to celebrate 40 years since the non-stop run with a recreation in 1968.
Travel to the vibrant city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne this September on board the Legendary Flying Scotsman. Experience beautifully restored vintage coaches travelling at main line speeds hauled by Flying Scotsman, departing from York. Enjoy free time in Newcastle to explore the city before you head back. Sit back and watch the sights race by as Flying Scotsman powers the train through the landscapes of the North East at impressive speed. Keep an eye out for the wonderful view of the Tyne as you cross the bridge.

Traditional seating in an open style interior coach, generally arranged around tables for 4. There is an on train buffet car available to purchase drinks and light snacks during the journey.
There is a small step onto the train. Unfortunately, due to the heritage nature of the train in use, they are unable to carry wheelchairs or mobility scooters. There are toilet facilities on board the train, although these may not be suitable for those with accessibility needs.
